The other day I got the chance to say hello to some of the world´s greatest rock stars: U2! I was walking by hotel Adlon here in Berlin when suddenly Bono was leaving the hotel to do his sound check at Brandenburger Tor where he was playing a free concert for MTV Europe Music Awards later that evening. The concert was a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Berlin Mauer Fall. I stayed and heard the sound check with special appearance by Jay-Z and it was amazing. They played One and Sunday Bloody Sunday - two of my favourite songs. On the way back to the hotel U2 took the time to say hello to all their fans who had gathered in front of the hotel during the sound check. These guys rocks :-)

I can´t get enough of seeing old movies with Lauren Bacall. Especially when she´s playing together with her husband Humphrey Bogart. One of my all time favorites is the movie The Big Sleep - about private detective Marlowe (Bogart) who is hired to keep General Sternwood´s youngest daughter out of trouble but falls in love with her older sister Vivian (Bacall) - and then a lot of very funny things starts to happen. It´s a real classic! 

Also Bacall is extremely well dressed in this movie so you can get a lot of inspiration by seeing this great dresser. I really love her black and white suit in the picture - and the hat is the beautiful cherry on top!!

La Turbanette

Inspired by Karen Blixen, I decided to get me a turban. In my search I found that Trine mentions an affordable one from Friis & Co.  I found mine at Hatshopping. Good price and very comfortable in 98% cotton and 2% elasthan. I will post a picture when I get the curage! :) Colours available are black, brown, white and pink. They shipped very fast. Price: 29€ plus shipping.

German Vogue celebrates it´s 30 years of fashionable greatness - among other things with a cool exhibition of it´s covers from the last decades. The exhibition is in the ground floor of KaDeWe and it looks fabulous with all the beautiful women looking down at you.

To fight today´s cold and dark weather outside I went to Stadtbad Neukölln another one of Berlin´s many fine baths. The architecture is breathtaking. Inspired by the antique baths and built in 1914, it´s one of the most beautiful swimming facilities I have ever seen. The place also has an amazing sauna and recreational area with features such as a finnish sauna, herbal steam rooms, a steam bath with nice marmor and a Caldarium. You also find small relaxing spaces and a little café too. I went out three ours later totally relaxed, warm and with a smile on my face that could beat even the coldest day in Berlin.

Yesterday I went to The Caterpillar Club, a new club in Kreuzberg, to hear danish electronica singer Tone perform. The club is a private home that hosts live performances in the living room. The hosts are friendly and you can buy cheap coffee, tea, beer and delicious cake too. The doors open at 7:00 and the show starts at around 8:00. It´s nice. It´s new. It´s cosy. It´s now. It´s the place you gotta try!

Yesterday evening I went with my husband on a night out in town to see Sonic Youth play at Columbiahalle in Berlin. The band is legendary! Man and wife rocking the stage night after night, year after year. I think Kim Gordon is always looking great and sexy on stage, yesterday in a short silver dress. Thurston Moore looks like a giant king on stage - like nothing can ever get him down. They rock, that´s for sure. I´m just not that much into big concert venues anymore, what a dream to hear them at a small place sometime. In my dreams maybe?

The Little Silver Hare Revelation

Finally found the designer of the beautiful silver hare mentioned here! Norwegian designer Bjørg. You all probably know her and just decided to leave me in the dark?;) I actually found it by coincidence passing by Danish brand Stella Novas blog. I was hoping to find a webshop, but nope. Let's hope she'll open one soon.

Yesterday evening Straight From The Harp was rocking their new hometown Neukölln´s finest venue LITTLE STAGE.  A neon treasure cave, bound to make you think of movies like Cocktail and Blade Runner, but with a charm completely on it´s own that fits no decade or description. As always we had great fun playing our songs to our wonderful fans.

If you miss Paris when you´re in Berlin, you can always go to Paris Bar. Here you find a classic parisian scene with a cosy interieur and some delicious french food. The place is famous for all of it´s famous visitors during the past (and present) from Madonna to Robert De Niro. The art on the walls is another attraction. I particularly liked the huge photo of Yves Saint Laurent pictured by Jürgen Teller. Well, if you want to enjoy a day in Paris (in Berlin) - go to Kantstrasse and say Oh la lah!

Sunday evening Mr. S and I went to Operaen in Copenhagen to see Tori Amos live. Between 1994-2003 I was a big fan. I love every album from Little Earthquakes to Scarlet's Walk. The albums after that - not so much. So when I heard she was playing at the new opera house I knew we had to go. It was an amazing trip down memory lane. What a WOman!

Louise Foo has a very pleasant and dreamy voice and Lisbet is surfing the guitar like a true star! They are just going to release their first EP in october with some catchy tunes on it, so check´em out!

Chase the monkey! The funky monkey! Yesterday evening Straight From The Harp was playing at King Kong Klub in Berlin. The club is a great place with an interieur inspired by the movie King Kong. The people are nice and the crowd was fantastic. If you want to hear some live music, have a beer and get the girl, you don´t need to climb the Empire State Building. Just slide down to King Kong Klub. Monkey business at its best!
